Boy found after overnight search

Beaver Dam, N.B. -
Mom: 'I feel like my life is back'
Rescue workers have found a boy missing since Wednesday. They found him in Beaver Dam just outside Fredericton.

Five year-old Brandon Dunfield disappeared Wednesday afternoon and an all night search turned up no sign of him.

"We've checked several buildings, several junked cars in the area and no, we have not located him." said RCMP Sgt. John Welcher.

But not long after that, the boy turned up. His mother Melinda Harnish was there to hug him.

"Oh, it's the most wonderful feeling in the world. I feel like my life is back."

Stephen Lawrence and Hal London found Brandon.

"He said that he slept with his cat overnight and that he slept underneath a tree. He was in real good spirits, just like he had done it all the time, all he cared about was his cat," they said.

Apparently, Brandon had wandered into the woods after his pet. He slept under a tree all night, and was found about one kilometre from his home under some brush in the woods.

Brandon's grandparents were elated to learn he was ok.

"When I heard it, I don't know, it's just a relief," said his grandmother. "The response from the volunteers, the fire department, search and rescue, the chopper from CFB Gagetown is just excellent. It's nice to see the response and the people that want to help when something like this happens."

The search lasted more than 18 hours and at least 100 people helped and went home smiling.
