After combing the woods off Route 8 for five days, the search for a missing Fredericton woman has ended unsuccessfully.

Judy Arsenault, 55, went missing at 7 p.m. Thursday while walking with a friend along a trail in McGivney, about 50 kilometres north of Fredericton.

Her disappearance set off a search involving the Red Cross, the Department of Natural Resources, the RCMP dogmaster from Fredericton, a RCMP helicopter and ground search and rescue teams from across the province.

The searchers covered about 12 square kilometres of densely wooded area before District 6 RCMP in Miramichi terminated the search Monday evening at 9:30 p.m.

Arsenault suffers from seizures and regularly takes medication.

There were fears that if Arsenault suffered a seizure, she could become disoriented.

She is described as five feet, five inches tall, weighing 145 pounds with a medium build. She has grey hair and was wearing eyeglasses, dark coloured shorts, a dark coloured long-sleeve shirt, beige socks with black trim and green sneakers with a yellow stripe at the time of her disappearance.

Anyone with any information about Arsenault is asked to contact the RCMP.
