Police have called in a helicopter to assist in their search for a 58-year-year-old man from the Miramichi area who went missing on the weekend.

Martin Cox, 58, left his home on Saturday afternoon to clear a path in nearby woods. He hasn't been seen since.

His wife looked for him for several hours, then called police Saturday night.

Search and rescue teams spent all day Sunday combing the woods in the Chaplin Island Road area, just north of the city of Miramichi.

Cox is described as heavy-set, weighing 250 pounds. He wears glasses and has gray hair.

He had recently moved to the Miramichi area from Toronto.
