Update on Jaffrey Street Incident

Two Fredericton area men appeared in provincial court July 17, 2003 to
answer to charges relating to the shooting death of Jacob Waterbury Brooks
on Jaffrey Street this past Tuesday evening. Zachary Andrew Flowers, age
20 was present in court to answer to the charge of second-degree murder.
His counterpart, Robert W. Waugh age 26 was also present to answer to the
charges of assault with a weapon and dangerous driving in relation to the
hit-and run vehicular assault of a 31-year old man. Both accused men have
been remanded to custody in Saint John and will reappear in court August
7th, 2003.

Fredericton Police are continuing an extensive investigation into the
murder and assault with numerous officers from throughout the Force re-
assigned to follow the various avenues of interest. Police are still
seeking the large dark car with trim that was invovled in this hit and run.
Police are also continuing their investigation into the home invasion and
robbery, which occurred on Wilsey Road South on early Monday morning July
14th, 2003. Police can only say at this time that new information has
been revealed due to the increased inquiries and the numerous tips
offered by the public.

The Fredericton Police would like to thank the public for their input and

important to remember that although two men have been charged in
connection with the Jaffrey Street incident, police have many more avenues
of investigation to pursue.
